Sellwood Park
Sellwood Park, on its idyllic site overlooking the Willamette, was being loved to death. Trampled turf, cracked sidewalks, and shaky handrails had made it a poor place to play.
With a pledge to Portland Parks Foundation of $1 million over 10 years for maintenance and improvements, Columbia Sportswear Company committed to bringing the popular neighborhood park back to its former beauty. In the fifth year of this stewardship, Sellwood Park is blossoming again.
The upgrades at Sellwood Park include:
* Wrought-iron fences have been repainted and restored.
* Paved paths through the park have been resurfaced.
* New picnic tables are in place.
* Landscape and gardening work has been completed throughout the park.
* New fencing and bleachers were built for the softball fields.
